Biodanza was created by Rolando Toro Araneda, a Chilean anthropologist and clinical psychologist, in 1976. Also well known throughout South America as a painter and poet, he supervised the Biodanza world movement as this system extends to all continents. Rolando was nominated in 2001 for the Nobel Peace Prize for his contribution to humanity. Rolando “walked his talk”, dancing and travelling the world until he passed away, early 2010, at 85 years old.

Accredited by the International Biodanza Association IBF, I have taught Biodanza in Switzerland and France. Living in this beautiful Australia I have the pleasure to present the first Biodanza weekly classes and regular workshops.
Biodanza is a heartfelt approach to personal empowerment through the authentic self expression. Biodanza was born from the Rolando’s desire to live in a peaceful world. Based on anthropological studies of dance, life-celebrating rituals, and human instincts, Biodanza is a scientifically proven method which has evolved over the last 40 years as a system to develop human potentials.
Biodanza helps to relax and release the effects of stress. Work tensions, emotional difficulties, family challenges, economic pressure, and a life with little existential meaning affect our mood, our immune system, the whole organism.
Biodanza offers a large range of exercises and dances to explore and accomplish our wonderful potential.
The development of these potentials occurs through the “vivencias”. The Spanish word vivencia means a moment lived intensely, which confers to our emotion the existential quality of what is being lived in the “here and now”.
This word refers to a psychological-physical state of full integration to oneself, to the others, in relation to the surrounding environment. For example, when we jump, stimulated by happy dynamic music, we are experiencing a vivencia of vitality, whereas when our movements are slow, merging from a soft music, we are living a vivencia of tenderness and affection.
